Paper jams are a common issue with printers, but they are usually easy to resolve.
Here are the steps to take if your printer is experiencing a paper jam:
- Turn off the printer: Before attempting to clear the jam, make sure to turn off the printer to avoid causing any further damage.
- Open the printer: Locate the paper input tray and the printer cover. Gently pull the cover open to access the interior of the printer.
- Locate the jam: Look for any visible signs of the paper jam, such as a crumpled piece of paper or a bent roller.
- Remove the paper: Carefully remove the jammed paper, pulling it straight out in the direction it was fed into the printer. Avoid tugging on the paper, as this can cause it to tear and make the jam harder to remove.
- Check for any remaining fragments: Check the interior of the printer for any remaining fragments of paper. Make sure to remove all fragments to avoid future jams.
- Close the printer: Once you've removed all fragments of paper, close the printer cover and try printing again.
- Check for any other jams: If the printer continues to jam, check for any other jams in other parts of the printer, such as the output tray.
- Restart the printer: If the printer is still not functioning properly, turn it off and on again to reset it.
If you are unable to clear the paper jam on your own, or if the jam continues to occur frequently, you may need to contact HP Printer Customer Support or have a professional look at your printer.
